Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell joined CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was made the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. She has covered several notable reports over the years, including budget reform, tax reform and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. She travelled frequently together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
